currently listening: Daya- Sit Still, Look Pretty
Despite the petition circulating on social media, Donald J. Trump is going to be our 45th president. He will not just be the executive head of our government, but will also have a conservatively run Senate and House of Representatives. He won the electoral college. He won big. How in the world did this happen?!?!?
Americans happened. Average Americans. And they waited until the privacy and safety of the voting booth to have their voices heard- making the previous media polls irrelevant and turning the nation red.
Why did they wait for the anonymity of election day? Because the Liberal Left has a nasty habit of labelling and ostracizing anyone who thinks differently than they do. Americans have had agenda after agenda crammed down their throats, and it has only caused them to be quiet and keep their opinions to themselves in order to keep the peace.
Here might be just a few things the Average American doesn't share publicly:
As an Average American, I will never think it's okay to murder children in the womb. I support a woman's right to do what she wants with her body, but not when it infringes upon the life of another. As an Average American, I want to dignify life, all life, all orientations of life. Therefore, I don't want my tax dollars funding Planned Parenthood and other abortion clinics. The Left calls me ignorant.
As an Average American, I am not going to feel comfortable with LGBT Pride parades where naked men and women walk the streets. I am not going to be okay with shocking and explicit demonstrations of sexual exposure on the main avenue of my hometown. As an Average American, I actually do want freedom and civil liberty for everyone, but I also want decency. As an Average American, I am not thrilled that my tax dollars provide extra security for such lewd events. The Left calls me a bigot.
As an Average American, I support police officers. I am not racist, anti-semitic, and I definitly don't agree with profiling people; but I also don't support riots where store owners are victimized by needless violence. As an Average American, I have to sugar coat and couch my words carefully, making sure my thoughts line up with whatever is politically correct. If I were to speak out against the media-fueled Black Lives Matter agenda, the Left would call me a racist.
(Ps, want to talk real minority issues? Where is the Left's outrage and 24/7 news coverage of the Dakota Access Pipeline?)
As an Average American, I don't like the masses of illegal immigrants benefiting from the US federal government more than my own family. As an Average American citizen, I don't receive the same perks from government as do undocumented people... provided for by my Average American tax dollars, of course. As as Average American, I feel forgotten by my own country while the plight of non-citizens is given precedence over me. I feel hesitant and uneasy when I see thousands of men from enemy countries given refuge in American cities. I feel pressured to go against my gut instincts and turn a blind eye. The Left calls me insensitive, non-inclusive. and prejudiced.
As an Average American, I didn't crumble when Barak Obama was elected, even though I really, really didn't want him to be my president. I didn't stage protests outside of his house. I didn't scream foul. I didn't parade the streets, congesting traffic, and spitting in the faces of the very police officers that had to be there to ensure my safety.

I didn't pull elderly men out of their cars at intersections and beat them for voting contrary to me.
I moved on... without the help of therapy dogs, hot chocolate, or cancelled exams. I wasn't disillusioned to the point of losing sight of reality or our democratic foundation. The Left calls me heartless and out of touch with my fellow citizens.
As an Average American, however, I have been silent. I don't want to offend the Left. I don't want to be made to explain my morals because it might cause a break in connection with so many people that I love. (Yes, I can love you even if I disagree with you.) I don't think people who are anti-Trump need to be quieted and ignored; but the Left, with it's verbal lacerations and labelling wants to shut my voice out. The Left assures me that I am alone in my conservative convictions and that I am the only one feeling this way.
When I shared on social media that I had voted against Clinton, Left-leaning people came out of the woodwork to send me corrective messages. How could I have voted for that guy?!? How could I have been so racist and bigoted?!? How could I look my daughter in the eye and say that I hadn't voted to elect the first female president?!? How could I support a president that the KKK also supports?!?
There's no use in answering. The divisive rhetoric and riots dominating the news channels tell me there is no place for my actual opinion.
So, I let my vote on November 8th do the talking... like the other 60,350,241 Average Americans.
