YouTube Items...

currently drinking: Victoria
currently listening: Chris Isaac, Forever Blue (oldie but goodie)

It's summer! Here are some of my current YouTube suggestions to ease into, well, ease. ;)

Item One: Short Teaching
This is a great morning devo for those of us that want a daily series that cuts right to the chase. I feel like Havilah Cunnington and I are friends at this point and looked forward to her smiling face each morning.

Item Two: Long Teaching
Billye Brim… one of my all time favorites, and one of the best teachers regarding God's calendar. (Ps, it's not the Gregorian one we 'Mericans follow.)

Item Three: Creative Artist
Timbre. This gal! She gives me hope that harpists CAN be cool… and sorta relevant.

Item Four: Documentary Series
It's no secret that I am a documentary addict. Well, not now anyway. Here is a very entertaining little series on the Russian Romanov family. Nerd it up!

Item Five: Social PSA
I normally don't watch/repost this kind of stuff, but I really liked the message here. In the margin next to Galations 6:2- Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ- I have scribbled, "as Christ fulfilled the law, so we are to fulfill His ways." You can be there for someone in their time of need all day long; but knowing who sticks with YOU in YOUR times of need is a treasure indeed. Selah.

Operation "Chicken Rescue"...

Currently Drinking: raspberry water
Currently Listening: The Wild Inside by Michael Ketterer

We picked up a little more than hay today...

Two little red hens, rescued from a life in filthy cages, and on their way to Smithworld...

...where cats are friendly and keep the coop rat-free...

… where dogs are gentle shepherds...

… and where chickens are held in high regard.

Here they are, experiencing warm sunshine and grass underfoot for the first time.

They may look pitiful now with their clipped beaks and lack of nutrition…

…but, as Marge (the same breed) demonstrated during the welcoming party, life at Smithworld makes for healthy, happy, and beautiful birds!
Welcome home, Valentine and Bonnie.

January Items… coffee, chickens, and podcasts.

Currently listening: Low Roar.
Currently drinking: Coffee, but it's been compromised...

Item One:
I know better than to eat a banana first thing in the morning. It absolutely RUINS a perfectly good cup of coffee. What is it about bananas that make each sip taste like burnt popcorn and beef jerky? Still, I accidentally enact this wretched taste bomb about three times a month.

Item Two:
In the winter months, we give the members of our homestead warm water to begin their day. Frequently, I look out the back door and see Oats, standing in her water container, eyes slightly closed, enjoying her heated foot bath. You just gotta love a chicken smart enough to do this. We have two 'feral' hens in our flock, Oats and Acorn- initially added to give the other hens a break from the young, overly-eager rooster because they could outrun, outfly, and out roost him; but were just too pretty to ignore. Junior had no finesse when it came to the ladies, especially compared to the sleek and suave alpha rooster, Kellogg. Kellogg simply oozes confidence and social grace. Thankfully, Junior has learned that all women appreciate a considerate boyfriend and finally has a little family of his own…. and even makes sure that the kids never disturb Oats when she is enjoying a little 'me time' bucket bath.

Item Three:
Joshua and Jason Nunnelly are officially The Coffee Shop Pontiffs. They recorded their first podcast yesterday at Berkley Bob's (Cullman's best local coffee house) with me as acting producer. My sides are still sore from laughing. I started working on the content this morning, giving my ribs a chance to really work out. Good stuff. Be looking for it!
