We picked up a little more than hay today...
Two little red hens, rescued from a life in filthy cages, and on their way to Smithworld...
...where cats are friendly and keep the coop rat-free...
… where dogs are gentle shepherds...
… and where chickens are held in high regard.
Here they are, experiencing warm sunshine and grass underfoot for the first time.
They may look pitiful now with their clipped beaks and lack of nutrition…
…but, as Marge (the same breed) demonstrated during the welcoming party, life at Smithworld makes for healthy, happy, and beautiful birds!

ReplyDeleteI enjoyed making their acquaintance this afternoon. These are great pics, and remind me of a little book you guys had as children - it was a story about a girl and her pet lamb, accompanied by photos. Very nicely done, smithern.
